VCE VET DANCE

Patrick Studios will continue VCE VET Dance classes in 2016.  This subject is available to any students whether currently with Patrick Studios or external.  Students must enroll in this course by late February 2016.

VCE VET DANCE:

If you enroll in this course you will learn:

  • Technique and performance skills in 2 dance styles
  • How to find work in the dance industry
  • How to prepare for dance performances
  • Plus: research skills, Industry specific OHS and communication skills

VCE VET Dance is a Certificate II in Dance. It is a pre-vocational course, and will prepare you to audition for further (tertiary) training in dance as a teacher, performer or choreographer. The course gives you a taste of what the industry is like so you can work out if you want to pursue dance as a career.

If you successfully complete this course you will receive a Certificate II in Dance CUA20111. VET Dance is available as a VCE subject OR as part of a VCAL program. Ask your VET coordinator more about VET dance if you are a VCAL student.

Units 1 & 2 Core units:

  • CUADAN201A Develop basic dance techniques
  • CUAOHS101A Follow basic safe dance practices
  • CUAOHS201A Develop a basic level of physical condition for dance performance

 Units 1 & 2 Electives:

  • CUADAN203A Perform basic jazz dance technique
  • CUADAN205A Perform basic contemporary dance technique
  • CUADAN208A Perform basic street dance technique

 Units 3 & 4 Core & Compulsory UnitsC

  • CUADAN202A Incorporate artistic expression into basic dance performances
  • CUAPRF201A Prepare self for performances
  • CUFIND201A Develop and apply creative arts industry knowledge
  • CUAPRF304A Develop audition techniques

Units 3 & 4 Electives:

  • CUADAN305A Increase depth of jazz technique
  • CUADAN308A Increase depth of contemporary dance technique
  • CUADAN309A Increase depth of street dance technique

Contribution to ATAR Score:

2 solos (one in each dance style) contribute 50% to your ATAR score. School assessed coursework contributes the other 50%
